1. Have Fun.

This may sound cliche but this is the most important rule to doing makeup. Makeup is all about having fun and creating art on your face. The moment it stops being fun for you, you've lost the essence of what it's about. So go out there and create magic.

2. Don't let "Beauty Gurus" steer you into buying things you don't need.

We all love our beauty gurus. But sometimes they'll recommend things that we either won't need or won't be able to use. However, we'll use it only because Jaclyn Hill said we needed it. Be careful and choose wisely about what you see on the internet. You never want to go out and buy things you'll never use.

3. Research is key.

You always want to make research a product to make sure it works on your skin. Some makeup could cause a negative reaction on your skin. You always want to check what you're buying to make sure it works for you. The foundation you want may oxidize into a weird orange, but you wouldn't know that until you do your research.

4. Setting Spray is your friend.

Setting spray does a lot in a tiny bottle. Not only does it make your makeup stay in place, it helps give your face a natural finish and reduce "cake". Also you can use a setting spray to add more pigmentation to your shimmer eye shadows. Don't sleep on a setting spray, it does a lot more than you think.

5. Practice makes perfect.

The Great Wall wasn't built overnight so don't be discouraged when things don't go how you want them to be. You have to practice in order to get the results that you want. Within time you'll see the results that you want. All of your practice will pay off soon.
